Popular Front Door Styles

Cape Cod Doors

This door style became popular post-World War II, and often features upper windows and raised panels. This is a fairly simple design that fits many different homes.

Craftsman Doors

These doors feature flat, rectangular panels and larger vertical windows near the top. They go well with more traditional exterior design. Some craftsman styles feature leaded-glass windows.

Ranch Doors

This contemporary design feature alternating glass and wood panels laid out horizontally. These doors fit best on homes with clean horizontal lines.

Tudor Revival Doors

Tudor doors are identifiable by their board-and-batten design, arched or pointed tops, and single small window.

Queen Anne Doors

These doors mimic the design of the Victorian era, with a large window in the top half of the door, and elaborate moldings or carvings on the bottom half. The window may be a single pane or leaded glass. Queen Anne doors often have sidelights.

Colonial Revival Doors

These are different from many other doors in that there are no windows on the door itself. Instead, the door features symmetrical panels, often with windows in the sidelights and/or fanlight.
