Exterior Window Condensation

Exterior condensation is a natural form of condensation that occurs when dew, rain or frost forms on the outside of a window. It usually doesn’t cause damage and dissipates naturally after time. If you need to get rid of it, wipe it down with a towel or rag. You can also apply a repellent product before it rains to prevent condensation.

Interior Window Condensation

When the temperature of window glass is below the dew point of the indoor air, condensation occurs. Frost can form when the temperature of the glass is below freezing.

A few easy ways to prevent or minimize interior condensation:

  • Turn down the humidifier, and move portable humidifiers away from windows.
  • Run ceiling fans, even for just a few minutes at a time.
  • Run the bathroom fan when showering, and the stovetop fan when boiling water.

Condensation Between Windowpanes

When condensation occurs between windowpanes, there is usually a broken seal within the window. Replacing the windowpanes or the entire window is the best solution. Before you do that, make sure your windows aren’t just dirty. Give them a good cleaning, and if they’re still foggy, give us a call!
