Shop Small & Support Your Community

Small Business SaturdaySS_Logo_Clean_Blue is November 29th, 2014! Show your community and local small business owners some love this holiday shopping season by shopping small.

There are many advantages to keeping your spending local:

Economy – Keep your economy strong with local spending. A strong economy translates into a strong community. Also, if we keep our dollars with local merchants, it’ll allow them to keep their prices competitive.

Know your merchant – When you shop small, you get to know the people you’re buying your goods and services from. When you see the person you buy from walking down the street, out to eat with their family, or at their kids’ sporting event, you know that you’re having a direct impact on their involvement in the community. It also ensures a better customer service experience, because, in turn, they know you too!

Community – When you shop small, you’re supporting more than the business owner, you’re supporting the town you call home. When citizens support a small business owner, that owner hires locals to work in their store. More sales also means more tax dollars stay in your community, which could turn into better parks and roads.

A story about the importance of shopping small…

Recently we got a call from a homeowner. They had some windows installed by an out of town contractor. The price was low so that contractor won the bid. Upon installation they forgot to wrap a window, which caused leaking. The homeowner called that contractor but the number was already out of service, meaning fixing the window is going to come out of the homeowner’s pocket.

When you do business with someone you might see on the street, it brings peace of mind to your spending. Local business owners have a reputation to uphold, so they’re going to work hard to make their customers happy.

If you’re unsure of whether or not a contractor is local or the right one for you, ask these questions:

  • How long have they been in business
  • If you can see their references
  • Who the project manager will be
  • Whether or not they can work within your timeframe

The Chuba Company has served the Elk River and Northwestern suburbs of Minneapolis since 1972. Shop local for your upcoming construction project and give us a call today!
